That said, this stuff is great. I don't take it every night but I do take it once or twice a week when I feel I really need to get a good night's sleep that night. Now the bottle recommends you take it right after dinner, but I eat dinner early and I don't determine how much I need sleep until a later, so I don't follow the rules to a T. When I take it I take it right before bed, typically 10-11:00.
I take it and it works great. I track my sleep using an activity tracker and on the nights I take tryptophan I sleep more soundly, get better REM, and wake up at least somewhat refreshed (not groggy). Again, I don't take this every night... indeed, I don't think I've ever used it two nights in a row. But on the nights I do take it it works fantastically.
